Karl Meltzer, aka Speedgoat, is the winningest trail 100 miler of all time, with 38 victories, including five at the iconic Hard Rock 100, making him the winningest 100 Miler of all time. Most recently, Karl set the iconic Thru Hike record of the 2,189 mile Appalachian Trail in a stunning time of 45 days 22 hours and 38 minutes and averaged approximately 47 miles per day. Meltzer’s time beats the previous record by more than 10 hours, which was set by Scott Jurek in 2015.
